The Karval Community Alliance Board of Directors met with the community members on February 13, 2007.

Pat Vice informed the group that the Assessment Team could not come from Denver because of the weather. The Assessment Team usually meets with the community after their initial meeting. Because we have gone ahead on our own they want to meet with us to see what we are doing and ask any questions of them and to see if there is anything they can do.

Pat also talked about the Metal Fabrication shop opportunity in Kansas and told the group that it is still for sale.

Pat then passed around the logo that we will be using in our advertising, etc. She did say that we needed to set a policy on the usage of the logo. Steve Bailey said that he will check with his Attorney to see what needs to be done. She also passed around a copy of the brochure that will be used to pass out at the Lamar Birding Event in Lamar later in February.

The minutes were read and approved after one change.

Treasurer's report was given.

Election of officers was then discussed, per the minutes of the Board of Directors meeting that we elect the 7 members who were nominated at the last meeting as current board members. Jeff Thornton made motion that we accept the board's action and Winifred Pepper seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Acting Chairman, Steve Bailey passed out copies of the By-Laws. Vernon Stone made motion that we accept them as written. Aloha Wolf seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Erik Hilton talked to the members about setting up a web page for Karval. He said that Karval.org is available and he will register that name. He will bring more information back to us at our March meeting.

Jeff Thornton said that some are again trying to make the prairie dog an endangered species.

Steve Burgess, County commissioner, told us that DOW had met with the Commissioners and agreed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding for partnership with the County on improvements at the lake.

Cherry Stogsdill said that Warren Cummings had talked to her and that the DOW will put up signs on the West end of Karval to tell people where the lake is.

Jeff said that he would check on screen printing on t-shirts, etc. for Karval Mm. Plover Festival. Will then bring back to next meeting.

The next community meeting will be March 13th at 6:00 P.M. with potluck supper.

Respectfully Submitted,
Letha Clark, Secretary
