Reports

Mark Carling gave a report on the progress of the Ranching and Wildlife (RAW) Tours. There is growing interest in the RAW program. The Alliance is managing a RAW grant for $9550 which will cover training, school costs, and transportation for those Karval students participating in these tours at the Wineinger-Davis Ranch for urban students.

A report was given on the star gazing event with Ben Wentworth that was held last August. This event should continue in the future.

The Alliance achieved nonprofit 501(c)(3) status! Carl and Cherry Stogsdill put in countless hours to achieve this great step for the organization. Pat Vice was a huge help in the process.

The Alliance may look into getting an enterprise zone designation to provide tax credits for investors.

Russell Davis reported on the very successful Partners for Conservation meeting that took place October 14, 2009. Twelve states attended the three day meeting which made a real impact in showcasing our community. The meeting was funded by US Fish & Wildlife.

The 2009 Christmas Lighting contest winners were

  • 1st – Sean and Shelly Leonard
  • 2nd – Doug and Connie Stone
  • 3rd – John and Jodi Kerr

Money was presented to the Alliance for economic development by Susanne Mikkelson of the Farmer’s Union. This was matching grant funds for the Alliance members’ time in 2009.

The next meeting will take place on Thursday, February 18.
